22 Inch Traditional Steel Paella Pan - Serves 12

Note: This pan will not fit in a normal oven. We recommend ordering a paella burner and tripod, as well.

This size pan makes enough paella for a dinner for 12 people. It is the traditional steel paella pan used by Spaniards for centuries. The pan bottom is dimpled in order to spread heat evenly. You can use this paella pan either on top of the stove, or on an outdoor grill.

As you use your steel paella pan it will become seasoned: changing color and absorbing more flavors as you continue to cook with it. After each use, treat the pan as you would any steel or cast iron pan. Wash it by hand, then season with a light film of oil to retard rust. Should any rust appear, merely wipe it off.

Does this paella pan fit in a standard oven?

No. This paella pan exceeds the dimensions of most standard ovens and is not suitable for oven use. It’s best used on a stovetop, grill or outdoor burner setup. If oven cooking is required, consider a smaller pan—typically 15 to 16 inches in diameter with low-profile handles—to ensure proper fit.

Where can I cook with this paella pan?

It’s ideal for stovetop cooking, outdoor grills, or open flame setups. These heat sources accommodate its size and allow for traditional paella preparation.

What should I do before using my traditional steel paella pan for the first time?

Add a small amount of water to the pan and heat it on the stove to remove the protective coating and any stickers. Dump the water and repeat the process several times. Then wash the pan with hot, soapy water and dry thoroughly.

How will a traditional steel paella pan change over time?

These pans will naturally change color with use. This is normal and part of their character.

How can I prevent rust on a traditional steel pan?

Clean the pan with hot, soapy water, hand-dry it immediately, and coat the interior with vegetable oil. If rust occurs, scrub gently with steel wool, then wash and reapply oil.

Can the pan warp if not handled correctly?

Yes. Avoid leaving a paella pan on a burner without contents, as it may warp from excessive heat exposure.

Do these pans require seasoning or rust prevention?

No. These pans are designed with materials that do not require seasoning or rust prevention steps.

Is there anything I should avoid when using or cleaning them?

Yes. To protect the surface and maintain performance, avoid using abrasive cooking utensils or harsh cleaning tools.
