Description
Description
Galicia is famed for its exquisite canned seafood, and these three examples are some of our favorites. Simply open and serve with crusty bread and your favorite vino.
First you will enjoy plump mejillones (mussels) harvested from the Ría de Arousa. The mussels are lightly fried in olive oil and covered with a vinegar and paprika marinade that adds a little zing to their flavor.
Next are small, tender sardines with a very mild flavor. They are prepared hours after harvest and packed in olive oil.
Last is a tin of Galicia’s famous pulpo, firm yet tender sliced octopus packed in a delicious paprika sauce.
The seas off of Galicia are cool and rich in nutrients, making them a famed fishing ground. Conservas de Cambados is located near one of Spain’s largest Rías (estuaries), known as the 'Ría de Arousa.' Because they are right by the fishing port, they source the freshest seafood available and prepare it within hours of harvest.
