Description
Description
Light, crisp and wonderfully flaky, these savory tortas are made by hand and seasoned with Espelette pepper for a mild touch of heat. Sesame, fennel and black pepper add layers of flavor. Enjoy them as a snack or serve alongside tapas and Spanish cheeses.
The story of Inés Rosales brand tortas began in Sevilla in 1910, when a woman named Inés Rosales started making olive oil tortas by hand at her bakery near a busy stagecoach stop. Travelers loved the delicate crisps, and before long she enlisted women from the surrounding village to help meet demand. Her simple Andalusian specialty soon became a favorite throughout Spain.
More than a century later, Inés Rosales tortas are still made following her tradition. Each torta is flattened by hand and individually wrapped in wax paper, preserving the handcrafted character that made them famous.
Made with non-GMO ingredients, extra virgin olive oil and a sourdough starter, the tortas are packaged using recycled materials. The bakery near Sevilla is also largely powered by solar energy, making good use of Andalucía’s abundant sunshine.
