We never expected to find some of the most mouthwatering chocolate in all of Spain right on the outskirts of Madrid. The owners of Chocolate Orgániko make each bar of their dark chocolate by hand, then sprinkle pure sea salt crystals from the island of Ibiza on each piece as it cools.
This 70% cacao dark chocolate has a balanced intensity with a rich, creamy texture. As it melts you will taste a hint of tropical fruit and a light floral accent. At the same time, the sea salt crystals dissolve slowly, counterbalancing the complex dark chocolate flavor.
When we stumbled upon this award-winning chocolate workshop, the labor of love of a young couple, María Eugenia Pozo and Carlos Ortiz, we knew we’d found something special. After studying under a master chocolatier, in 2006 they decided to create the finest artisan organic chocolate in Spain.
At Chocolate Orgániko, only the best raw ingredients are used to make each handmade bar. They start with 100% organic Trinitario cocoa beans harvested in the Dominican Republic and surrounding Caribbean Islands. This type of cacao, a hybrid between the rare Criollo bean and the more common Forastero bean, is highly regarded as the finest flavored type of chocolate there is.
The flor de sal sprinkled on the chocolate is harvested by hand in Ibiza, a beautiful island in the Mediterranean Sea. This salt naturally crystalized in the abundant sunshine of the 'Salines d’Eivissa' nature preserve.
The artisans at Chocolate Orgániko search far and wide for the finest organic ingredients, and their attention to detail has earned them accolades across the world.
These high quality chocolates have been tested and are well below the limits for substances with potential health concerns outlined in California’s stringent Prop65 requirements.
