Alemany is a small company in the Catalan village of Os de Balaguer, population 400. This area at the foot of the Pyrenees is surrounded by natural parks, and the people have always lived off of the fruits of the land and surrounding forests.

The family artisan tradition started in 1879 with a small kitchen offering honey and turrón candy made from honey. These pure farmhouse candies and honey became a favorite of travelers to the region. In the 1970's the current owner, Miquel Alemany y Boix, invested in top quality packing facilities to share these flavors with Spain and the rest of the world.

Since then Alemany has won many awards for the quality of its honeys, including a coveted Great Taste Award™ in 2010 for their chestnut honey.

We visited with the supplier in Catalonia and were captivated by this orange peel and Azahar honey blend. This all natural honey has no other ingredients, and is a delicious part of the Mediterranean diet.
